A Brush With Botanicals
I’m delighted to welcome the very talented water colour artist and potter Aimee Gillespie to The School Garden.
From the moment I saw Aimee’s work, I knew that she would be the perfect water colour teacher here at The Studio. Her attention to detail and water colour techniques are inspirational, teaching in a style that is both mindful and considered enabling you to create at least two botanical style water colours.
Aimee will be running two consecutive workshops and will guide you through the process of painting botanicals. During these workshops, you will have the opportunity to withdraw from the busyness of everyday living, breathe in the scents of the garden whilst paying attention to the details of the botanicals around you.
So what can you expect ?
Session 1: SATURDAY 23rd AUGUST
10.30 - 1pm
We will start with some tea/coffee and scones. Then, using a variety of flowers picked from The School Garden, Aimee will encourage you to observe their tones, shapes and detail. She will guide you through the process of mixing watercolour paints and teach some of the necessary skills for this. You will then have an opportunity to paint your chosen bloom, putting into practice some of the skills you have been taught.
Session 2: SATURDAY 30 AUGUST
10.30 - 1 pm
We will commence with some tea/coffee and croissants and a recap of what was learned in week 1.
During this session you will have the opportunity to develop and practise watercolour painting techniques further. Using a small terracotta pot, you will make a take-away posy and then be guided through the process of either painting it, painting a stem within it or both.
Included in these two sessions:
✔️ Morning refreshments and eats
✔️ Water colour paper and paints
✔️ A tile to mix your colours and brushes
✔️ Fully guided small group experience
✔️ Terracotta flower pot and flowers from The School Garden
✔️ At least two of your own watercolours in botanical style to take away and frame at your leisure.
Please note as this experience is over two separate Saturday teaching sessions, it is advised to attend both.
